People have come to realize the notion that staying healthy indeed very important and when these people look into the nutritional charts, they are pleasantly surprised to find wine and wine calories on the list. A single serving of wine would mean a wine glass containing 5 ounces of wine. Wines contain empty calories, which would mean that the calories from fat are nil. The overall calories in a single glass of wine would read somewhere around 120 but it should be noted that this figure does not contain any saturated fats and cholesterol whatsoever.
The total carbohydrate content in red wine is around 2.41 g and levels of sodium are 7.09 grams. Other ingredients include proteins, thiamine, riboflavin and niacin and the respective percentages of these ingredients in red wine are .44%, .01%, .04% and .11%. When it comes to white wine calories, the total percentage of carbohydrates and proteins are 1.13 grams and .14 grams respectively.
There might be a slight change in the above mentioned values in different nutrition charts for different kinds of wine but the above values can be taken as standard. The health risks and nutritional risks associated with wine are on the lower side and hence this might just be the reason why Ernest Hemmingway once stated that wine is the most civilized thing in the world!
